A vacant hardware store in a landmark mill city location is being transformed into a usable public space, both inside and out.

The dirt parking and loading area at the busy downtown intersection will be utilized as an outdoor farmer’s market, complete with a classic French-Canadian bread oven. This active pedestrian area is connected through industrial glass doors to a public interior space.

The main level of the building will house an indoor public market, including an open commercial kitchen, bakery, and a large gathering space for the adjacent Museum of Work and Culture.
