Description
A long-standing eye sore at the center of downtown Taunton, this property was saved from the wrecking ball through the utilization of Federal Historic Tax Credits. Plans to demolish the building to make way for a gas station were changed after a local developer and the architect were able to gain nomination of the building to the National Register of Historic Places.
The restoration of the building used local craftsman, many of whom were first generation European immigrants and masters at their trade.
The historic preservation design received an award from the American Institute of Architects.
