The Highland Day Care was completed in the Summer of 1988. Playful exterior colors were used to make the center more inviting and child friendly. This child care facility was designed within a tight budget in a booming economy. The overriding design strategy was function, concentrating on the care, safety, and enjoyment of the children. From this basis, a very simple H shaped floor plan evolved. Economical trusses were then employed as the roof system. Interior plywood play structures were custom designed strategically to act as room dividers.
